Poetry Anthology

Seven of my poems, and seven that aren’t mine.

Read about it

is it wrong to be deaf to the noise
of the chaos within a storm
to strictly listen to the soothing voice?

the first step on your way
the first moment leaving your only home
the first time
running into your fathers arms
not the last

the self-reflection within the rain
is the closest emotional candy to actual sweetness

as a deer pants in a stream of water
so does the person who frowns

i walk away from the past and find new life
how could i be so loved

i am a sheep among wolves
when my enemies confront me You are there

peace.
what could be so calming?
quiet.
there’s love in the silence
focus.
On your father

My life has been the poem I would have writ
But I could not both live and utter it

The heard of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

A friends loves aat all times, and a brother is born at a time of adversity.

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; All your waves and breakers have swept over me.

Love is a kind word
But I do not know why though
It has not been kind

What Does Poetry mean to me?

Poetry hasn’t had an effect in my life until I took the time to sit with it, and understand that it’s more than just confusing words. It’s a way to express what often goes unspoken. It allows us to connect with our emotions, memories, and sometimes something beyond ourselves. Poetry captures moments, turning complex feelings into something clearer and more structured. I started exploring poetry as a way to reflect on my experiences.

The poems in this collection are really just a collection of words that mean a lot to me, and that I’ve found deeper meaning in. My hope is that the reader of them finds that too. They reflect moments of calm in chaos and the struggle to hold onto hope and purpose. I’ve chosen poems by other poets who communicate deep ideas with clarity and impact.
I’m especially drawn to imagery, symbolism, and rhythm. these elements bring poetry to life, helping readers feel the words on a personal level.

A Closer Look

One of my own pieces in this collection, “peace. what could be so calming? quiet. there’s love in the silence. focus. on your father.”, shows the way I approach the relationship between silence and peace. It’s a pretty short poem, but by choice. By making the poem short, I wanted to create a sense of pause and reflection for the reader. The lack of information, also allows the reader to decide for themself what the poems means to them and how it can impact there own life.

In this poem, I also use repetition as a way to emphasize stillness, to try to slow down the reader’s attention. With words like “peace,” “quiet,” and “focus,” I wanted to show that these moments can be filled with meaning even without a lot of description. The simplicity of this structure allows space for the reader to reflect on their own sense of calm and focus, making it less about my experience and more about the idea itself.

Faith as a Theme

Faith is a big part of my writing, especially in poems like “I am a sheep among wolves, when my enemies confront me You are there.” This one ties into biblical themes, particularly the idea of God as a shepherd who guides and protects. The line “a sheep among wolves” is about feeling vulnerable but still finding strength in something greater. I capitalized “You” to emphasize God’s presence, showing that even in tough moments, there’s always a steady source of comfort.

Some of the verses I’ve included, like “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps,” show this idea. They remind us of faith’s influence on our paths. Together, these references bring in themes of reflection, hope, and guidance, showing that faith isn’t a grounding, it’s also a source of strength.

Ending

This collection, both my poems and those I’ve chosen, shows my personal reflections and ideas about finding meaning in silence. I wanted to create a space where whoever’s’ reading them could pause, and maybe find a moment of clarity or comfort. For me, poetry isn’t about being flashy or overly complex. It’s really just about speaking simply and honestly, with words that can resonate in different ways for different people. I hope this collection lets people look inward, and connect in a way that feels real.
